DREAM COMES TRUE FOR LATEST LOTTERY WINNER TALLAHASSEE -- The Florida Lottery today announced that $600 MILLION HIGH ROLLER Scratch-Off game winner, Joyce Stoermer, 58, of Orlando, claimed her $1 million top prize at Florida Lottery headquarters. Stoermer chose the one-time, lump-sum payment option for her winnings in the amount of $698,970.51. She purchased her winning ticket at M & D Food & Lotto Inc., located at 3518 E. Curry Ford Road in Orlando. According to Stoermer, the night before she bought the winning Scratch-Off ticket, she had a dream that she won playing the Lottery. Stoermer frequently plays Florida Lottery games, but this is her first big win. The $600 MILLION HIGH ROLLER launched on January 21, 2008, and is the first $30 Scratch-Off game offered by the Florida Lottery. The game features more than $600 million in cash prizes, including top prizes of $1 million and over 2,000 prizes of $20,000. There are 12 of 20 top prizes still remaining. The overall odds of winning are 1-in-2.43. Players who win $1,000 or $20,000 instantly in the game will be entered in a grand prize drawing for $20 million after redeeming their winning ticket. The grand prize drawing will be held after the game ends later this year. Since 1988, the Florida Lottery has contributed more than $20 billion to the Educational Enhancement Trust Fund, benefiting our students and schools, as well as funding more than one million Bright Futures scholarships. By a two-to-one margin, Florida voters in 1986 approved a constitutional amendment authorizing the state to operate a lottery for the purpose of generating significant additional moneys for education. # # # |
