VETERAN CLAIMS SHARE OF $7 MILLION TALLAHASSEE-- The Florida Lottery today announced that FLORIDA LOTTO™ winner Jack Fulce, 56, of Okeechobee, claimed his share of a $7 million jackpot. The drawing was held on January 2, and produced two jackpot winners. The other winning ticket, which has not been claimed, was purchased in Pembroke Pines. Fulce chose the one-time, lump-sum payment for his winnings in the amount of $2,052,472.33. The winning FLORIDA LOTTO Quick Pick ticket was purchased from Winn-Dixie, located at 3246 Highway 41 South in Okeechobee. The retailer received a bonus incentive of $10,000 for selling the jackpot-winning ticket. According to Fulce, he found out he won while visiting a retailer to verify his numbers. "I looked at my ticket and the print-out with the winning numbers, checking each number one-by-one. I fell to the floor and starting screaming 'I won, I won!' " he said. Fulce plans to buy a new boat and invest his winnings. The winning FLORIDA LOTTO numbers were 15 - 19 - 28 - 29 - 38 - 51 and the XTRA multiplier was 3. Total ticket sales for this jackpot generated approximately $4.4 million for the Educational Enhancement Trust Fund (EETF). Since 1988, the Florida Lottery has contributed more than $20 billion to the EETF, benefiting our students and schools, as well as funding more than one million Bright Futures scholarships. By a two-to-one margin, Florida voters in 1986 approved a constitutional amendment authorizing the state to operate a lottery for the purpose of generating significant additional moneys for education. Fulce is the 2nd FLORIDA LOTTO jackpot winner from Okeechobee County. To date, there have been more than 940 FLORIDA LOTTO jackpot winners statewide since 1988. The next FLORIDA LOTTO drawing will be held tonight at 11:15 p.m. ET with a $3 million jackpot. Webcasts of Florida Lottery drawings are available on the Lottery's Web site at flalottery.com. # # # |
